My wife asked me this morning – just before she left for work – if I could get someone in to sort out the blockage in our drainage system. We had noticed over the weekend that the kitchen sink was not draining away properly and water was backing up in the soakaway outside the back door.
Because we subscribe to the Homecare services offered by British Gas, this seemed like a good opportunity to get something back for the huge amount we pay them every year, so I got on the phone to them as soon as I could.
At 10 o’clock this morning a van pulled up outside our door and a very helpful young man had the drain covers up and the blockage cleared within half an hour. Everything is now exactly as it should be.
It just goes to show that there are occasions when you can get really good service – I was very impressed by the speed and efficiency of this particular example.
I have now booked a Homecare visit to look at our outside lights, which have not worked for years!

Do you get good service from utility companies when things go wrong?

Yes

No

I have had to learn to unblock our own drains, I use a plunger or buy some draino
The guy had the right tools for the job, which included lifting inspection covers.
As this is a service that we’ve paid for, the temptation to DIY was not strong!
we get very good service from some groups and of course horrible from others. Glad you had a good experience.
