Ghostwriter
Yesterday we were playing in the yard. It was boisterous. We were raking up leaves, jumping in the, burying each other in leaf piles and popping out. We were chasing each other with water balloons.
We have a neighbor who rents out a yurt on their property for someone to pretend like they are camping in our small little town. The yurt is quite aways from our home, but sound carries up here. We were making a ruckus.
A man marched up the hill and over the road and came face to face with me and said “You are just like Irma Grese!” He then stomped off.
Everyone just looked at me. I burst into laughter and said “Who is Irma?”
We continued on with our laughter and play. When we got too cold and tired we came in for warm beverage and a snack. That is when I decided to try and find out who Irma Grese was. I was shocked. That stranger said I was just like a sadistic guard that served in a Nazi concentration camp.
I was busy doing other things as the rest of the family went back outside to work on other projects and play more. The grandchildren came and got me to see the new sign they had put up on our gate, next to the great big “Happy Thanksgiving Banner.”
It read “Mean people are not welcome here”. I laughed so hard I cried.
