Why Bad Things Happen to Good People?

Initially, I used to weep to God and ask Him about my mistakes or sin. I kept on saying that I am pure, humble and holy. I have always helped people all my life. I have been a generous person. Even then, why so many bad things kept happening to me?

Why only bad things are happening to a good person like me? I asked this question several times until the day I found out that it is not by our goodness, but the goodness of God only. Only God is good and no one else. Since the day I understood this truth, my goodness was all for His glory. No man can be as good and as pure as our Lord Jesus Christ.
