When humans are startled a number of things naturally happen to us. Our body takes over and the sequence begins. It elevates our heart rate and blood pressure and pumps adrenaline throughout our bodies. Humans might jump, scream, and have several other reactions based on the signals sent by the hypothalamus.
It’s not the same for wild rats. When they are startled they poop. Apparently a lot of things startled these wild rats and eventually it causes problems for humans because the droppings can carry many diseases.
