WHAT AM I?

I don’t know what this flower is called but my wife has had this photograph for a while now and thinks its a rare poppy variety. Does anyone know what it’s called? Someone from here who was involved in an aid organization in Afghanistan said it was used to produce a new opium/heroine strain, but it could not be substantiated. I placed it here because of its remarkable beauty.
