In a few weeks all my cacti could burst into blooms. Although the cacti are such tough plants their blooms are not , they are so fragile , have the mildest of scents and look so exquisite. This one in the thumb nail has an almost magical fragrance to it. You can smell the bloom only if you are close to it. The petals are so delicate that if you touch them roughly they might tear. This bloom lasts just for a day.
The epiphyllum oxypetalum or the queen of the night or star of Bethlehem has already done blooming in December. This flower is often confused with the dragon fruit flower which will bloom by the end of March. These two are some of the huge cactus flowers I have in my garden. Mammillarias flower profusely in summer. I am just hoping that this year too my cacti will all bloom to make my happiness over flow.

so I do wait, but right now i hope the flowers don’t get bitten by the false spring we are having.
I hope not Doc, it would be sad to see the flowers killed by the frost.
we are seeing buds on some of the trees in our neighborhood.
