When I first planted papaya from the seeds, I was taught how to choose the strong seedlings. The bigger, the better. I thought that it was just all about the size and looks of the seedlings that the bigger seedling would definitely grow faster. But my father said that the big seedlings are the female which would give the fruits. That escaped my mind until recently I had seen one papaya that I planted that is a male.
The male papaya has flowers that would’t be fruits with the obviously different shape and looks. A flower that will become a fruit is only a single flower that already has the small fruit inside the petals even before the petals would open. The male papaya has a different flower like they are decorative only. And that’s all because I forgot the rule that the bigger seedling will more likely be a female tree that will bear fruits.
