The benefit of the checkpoint

When the lockdown was imposed here in March there was the sudden appearance of checkpoints in city boundaries. The cops would be taking the temperature with the use of the thermometer gun and inquire the destination of the vehicle. Only those with essential trips would be allowed to pass the checkpoint. Making it worse after one month there were cops who would issue a traffic violation for those vehicles with no quarantine pass.

Now the question on my mind is this – what effect has the checkpoint done on the spread of the corona virus? The daily cases keep on rising. Now they have removed the checkpoints but I guess it will return when the cops wanted to feel important again.
