Harvesting a tuber

I have been planting tubers since we moved to this house 2 decades ago. My first crop was yam. It is the violet tuber that is made into a jam. Yam jam is a delicacy in our culture that is usually common during the Christmas season. The next tuber was the cassava which is also easy to plant, easy to take care but not easy to harvest. Care if needed when digging the soil so the cassava will not break.

My present tuber is the Tugi. It is a kind of taro that is a vine so maybe it is a close relative of the sweet potato. But the Tugi is exotic for it is only available in our province. It is nice that I have it in our backyard.
