Christmas Ornaments were actually “Witch Balls” Another popular Christmas tradition is decorative ornaments that are hung on the Christmas tree. These beautiful ornaments are manufactured in various shapes, sizes and designs. In the 17th century in Britain, Christmas ornaments were beautiful glass-blown spheres and baubles known as witch balls. They were placed on the windows of different houses to trap witches and evil spirits. People believed that those shiny balls would catch the eye of a witch and neutralize them by confusing them with the pattern reflecting it.
