The photo was taken in a patch of sunflowers located at Granville & Hermitage in Chicago, Illinois.
European Paper Wasp – Order Hymenoptera : Superfamily Vespoidea : Family Vespidae : Subfamily Polistinae : Polistes dominula
Editing was done using Luminar Flex 1.1. Using the Develop filter I adjusted the color temperature, increased the contrast and clarity, opened up the shadows and decreased the highlights, whites and blacks. Next I added the Accent AI filter and increased the vibrance and structure.

Great shot Gary. Not afraid but I give them space. I have been stung before.
I find that, if you don’t try to do something stupid, like swat them, they won’t sting.
