In our home there are some artworks that are displayed not only in the living room but also in the porch and in our bedroom as well. Those artworks were gifts to us by friends. We never buy a painting much more sculptures and other artworks. It is better to display the artworks done by friends.
One time another friend who came to our house said that the artworks will be a treasure in the far future. I guess what he means is the quality of the work. But when it comes to value of the artwork the artist should be famous otherwise the artwork will just be for a display in the living room.

I have not been to any art galleries in a long time. My father used to buy the artwork of famous Latvian painters and we always had paintings on the walls.
