As the saying goes, the neighbor is the closest person to you. I agree to that. When we would go out and no one will be left in the house we entrust our home to our neighbor. In our culture when there is a big problem in the family like bringing someone to the hospital the neighbors are summoned for assistance.
It has been my habit to give something to the neighbors. It doesn’t matter if they are poor or not. During occasions like Christmas all our neighbors receive gifts from us. That is the true essence of being a neighbor. Now where are the vegetables from the nearby garden? That will make our lunch sumptuous.
