Balakot is a historic city in Pakistan. The river passing through the center of the city adds to the beauty of the city. Balakot is located in Mansehra District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, Pakistan. Eighty percent of the city was destroyed in the 2005 earthquake. The beauty of this city is enhanced by its green and lush hillsides. Its high mountains are always the focus of tourists. Balakot is the last important city in the region of Pakistan. Azad Kashmir is a few kilometers from Balakot. Balakot city is a tourist hub. Tourists from all over the world visit this beautiful area.

Memories of the devastating earthquake of 2005 still remain, though almost all the buildings have been renovated. Earthquake survivors are still in shock and fear. Balakot is the headquarters of Mansehra District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. It is located 29 km from Mansehra city on Azad Kashmir Road. Muzaffarabad is the capital of Azad Kashmir. Located a few kilometers from Balakot.
