Have you thought about the age of wine that the older the wine, the more expensive it becomes? I wonder how the wine is aged in oak barrels for a very long time. I once had handled a bottle of wine reputedly 30 years old. That bottle was older than me (at that time) so it is amazing that it got to my hands after 30 years inside the barrel.
Wine making is an art and not just a business. Even the wood of the barrels have an effect on the aging of the wine so wine makers are particular with the kind of wood. Some wine makers, or maybe most of the big winemakers, make their own barrels from the wood that they had selected. That means a bottle of wine has a story to tell aside from the taste.
