White swans are rare enough everywhere in Ireland but there are a few eking out on an urban survival plan of stale bread crumbs and an occasional minnow or two. This fine male just flew in from the North a few days ago, to sort of scout out the prospects. in the Liffey River, very close to my daughter’s house so she fed him some breadcrumbs and was rewarded the next day when his mate touched down at the strategic spot he had chosen for their nest. They mate for life, unlike so many humans
