Yasou” is a very commonly used phrase, used as a greeting (Hi). It roughly means ‘Your health’ and some times (less frequently) it can be used as a toast when drinking Cretan raki (aka tsikoudia). “Yassas” is considered to be more respectful greeting, usually used when addressing an older person or a honored guest. “Yamas” literally means “to our health” and is mostly used in the context of drinking.
