Trevi Fountain, Rome (6/10)

The most famous fountain in the world is the Italian Trevi Fountain (Fontana di Trevi). This fountain is a facade of a large building, designed by architect Nicola Salvi in 1735. Fountain sculptures of 29.5 m high and 19.8 m wide were designed by Bernese school artists. The three central sculptures symbolize the Neptune, surrounded by two tritons, one trying to cope with an uncontrolled seahorse, while another leads a calmer animal. They symbolize two contradictory states of the sea.
