Royal Spoonbill (4/11)

A bird as large as a Heron but equiped with a spoon on the end of the beak. It looks like it’s vacuuming the Manukau Mud flats when it is on the edge of the water.

I have no idea what it eats,

    • Thanks History Gal, I have seen them by the edge of the water in the mud flats. They move their beaks up and down in the mud much like a vacuum cleaner. I would assume they suck up food through their long beak and eat living organisms that we cant see.
