The second post today, continuing the wander Chicago theme, is inside the Field Museum. One of the cool things that were there when we visited in 2000 was the arrival and setup of the Tyrannosaurus Rex known as Sue. Sue was in the front area of the Field Museum, and we have a picture of the family about to be eaten by the giant ruler of the Dinosaur world. The field museum was not Nick’s favorite. He doesn’t like stuffed or dead animals in any form.
My first memory of the Field Museum (and Shedd aquarium) was from when I was roughly 6 or 7 years old. I also went as a Sophomore in High School (a band trip to downtown Chicago). We, on the band trip, stayed at the Palmer House hotel and wandered downtown Chicago. But this trip was special in that I got to take the kids to see the world I remembered from my childhood. I love Chicago!
Shedd Aquarium, the field museum and the wonderful shore of Lake Michigan! The fun parts of our downtown Chicago Experience in October 2000. For many years I had the picture of Sue the Tyrannosaurus and the family beneath it hanging in our living room. The caption was something like “I cannot move, please come closer I am hungry, Or Dinosaur eats Indiana family.”
