Close to the holiday, 1st May. On that day, the citizens of Belgrade traditionally walked into nature. They meet with family and friends with grill, beer, sport, stroll .. One of the favorite places for this is Koshutnjak Park. This park was named after Doe (Koshuta), which was once here. Park-forest, Koshutnjak, covers an area of 330 hectares, at an altitude of 250 m. The forest of deciduous and coniferous trees is intersected with numerous trails.

It is mentioned for the first time in the writings of 1831.In the second half of the 19th century, Koshutnjak became a rich hunting ground in which, along with Prince Miloš Obrenović, some foreign consuls were also hunted. At that time, on the basis of the letter from 1849, 13 deer and 35 doe were recorded , by which the whole region gets its name.

This park is a natural reserve of silver lime tree, pedunculate oak. In 2015, an average age of the trees has been estimated to 60-70 years. The Interesting facts of the forest is a tree of ginko (a plant species characteristic of the region of southeast China). Hajdučka česma (Hajduks’ drinking fountain) is a natural spring, which is one of the most prominent destinations for the picnickers.

There is also a sports center in the park, which is one of the largest in the city, modern settlements of Filmski Grad and Pionirski Grad, big studios of the national broadcaster Radio Television of Serbia, many popular restaurants and arranged paths criss-crossing the forest. There are also jogging tracks and a ski run.

Košutnjak is placed in the “Monument of Nature” from the Serbian Institute for the Protection of Serbia.
