Clingmans Dome in the Great Smoky Mountains

We drove the long winding road through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park to the lofty Clingmans Dome. This is a mountain peak that rises to 6,643 feet elevation which is the highest spot in the National Park and one of the highest on the East Coast of the U.S A. The parking lot leaves you a half mile walk to the top where you find the wonderful huge spiral walkway that lifts you up over the treetops so you can see several states.
