The first Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fight on Fight Island was a doozy! The match was a bantamweight (135 lbs) bout between Martin Day and Davey Grant at Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
This match was going back and forth for three rounds with Day having a slight advantage over Grant. Grant needed something to put the fight back into his favor. The punch sequence that Grant used against Day put his lights out with 2:22 remaining in the bout.
For most of the fight Grant was leading with his left, but he was only throwing a hook instead of a one-two with the jab. That’s why Grant was behind in the fight. He switched things up by throwing a right followed by the left hook to secure the KO. Remember that the set-up is as important as the KO punch.
