Friday May 11, 1979, Boston, Massachusetts
It was the week before our planned road trip to Colorado. Kathe Camara and I met in Kenmore Square and went to see the Red Sox take on the Oakland Athletics. I knew this was going to be an emotional thing – Oakland was the only American League team I hated worse than the Yankees, going back to my intense dislike for their former pitcher Catfish Hunter.
We sat in the cheap bleachers & lit up a joint. The home team did not disappoint. Right hander Bob Stanley held the Athletics in check. Kathy and I cheered ecstatic, inning after inning, as Boston cremated the Atheletics 11-2.
Thank you for your sports story.
My pleasure, DeepPizzaGuy. I have another one coming soon for you…
Can I ask you something?
Sure.
