Twelve-Spotted Skimmer (1998-08-01 0009a)
Order Odonata : Suborder Anisoptera : Family Libellulidae : Libellula pulchella. This one is a female. The males have white spots between the dark spots on the wings. The photo was taken at the North Park Village Nature Center in Chicago, Illinois.
This is an old photo from pre-digital times. The camera was a Pentax ZX-M camera with a Takumar 135/2.5 lens and a Vivitar 2x macro tele-converter. I used diffused auto-flash. The exposure was 100/8 on Fuji Sensia 100 film.
I used ACDSee Photo Studio Ultimate 2018 to adjust the lighting and boost the contrast and vibrance.

Well done! Nice post!
How beautiful Gary. Not sure how I missed it.
I have never been able to capture one.
They are fairly common in my area. Only the Common Green Darner seems to be more common.
