One of the trends for this year is Monsanto losing tremendously in court. Earlier this week, Monsanto lost a case in which they have been ordered by the court to pay a California couple two billion dollars because they both were diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma after using the weed killer RoundUp in their garden for over 30 years.
Monsanto is the manufacturer of RoundUp, the most-used weed killer in the world. However, the chemcials used in RoundUp have been clinically proven to cause cancer if used over a long period of time. Monsanto will be taking more losses this year as there are over 13,000 cases against them ongoing in the US court system at this time.
