The 93rd Academy Award–Oscars 2021 Winners

Tuesday, 4.27.21

The 93rd Academy Awards Oscars 2021 was on Sunday, April 25th. I usually watch these awards shows, but I missed it this year, probably because it was during this week’s Pluto Retrograde Full Super Pink Moon chaos.

Nomadland won for Best Picture. Other nominees include Promising Young Woman, The Father, Judas and the Black Messiah, Mank, Minari, Sound of Metal, and Trial of the Chicago 7. I have only seen Promising Young Woman, and I liked it because it was a light and entertaining thriller about a depressed young woman on a vengeful spree to get justice for her murdered college friend.

Best Director is Chloe Zhao for Nomadland. Other nominees included Thomas Vinterberg’s Another Round, David Fincher’s Mink, Lee Isaac Chung’s Minari, and Emerald Fennell’s Promising Young Woman.

Actress in Leading Role winner is Frances McDormand in Nomadland. (Frances McDormand is annoying. She looks butch, or maybe just promotes the tranny agenda). Other nominees include Carey Mulligan in Promising Young Woman, Viola Davis in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, Andra Day in The United States vs Billie Holiday, and Vanessa Kirby in Pieces of a Woman.

Actor in Leading Role winner is Anthony Hopkins in The Father. Other nominees included Riz Ahmed in Sound of Metal, Chadwick Boseman in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, Gary Oldman in Mank, and Steven Yeun in Minari.

Original Song winner is Fight for You from Judas and the Black Messiah. Other nominees included Hear my Voice from The Trial of the Chicago 7, Husavik from Eurovision Song Contest–The Story of Fire Saga, Lo Si from The Life Ahead (La Vita Davanti a Se). and Speak Now from One Night in Miami…

International Feature Film winner is Denmark’s Another Round. Other nominees included Hong Kong’s Better Days, Romania’s Collective, Tunisia’s The Man Who Sold His Skin, and Bosnia & Herzegovina’s Quo Vadis Aida?

Documentary Short Subject winner is Colette. Other nominees included A Concerto Is a Conversation, Do Not Spit, Hunger Ward, and A Love Song for Latasha.

Animated Short Film winner is If Anything Happens I Love You. Other nominees included Burrow, Genius Loci, Opera, and Yes-People.

Out of all the nominees, I have only seen one of the films—Promising Young Woman, and it only won once. I haven’t heard of any of the other films.
