Southbound Metra Commuter Train with Orton Effect (2018-04-21 10-53-45a)
The train is heading south to Union Station in Chicago’s Loop. It is on the Milwaukee District North line and has just left the Edgebrook station. This photo was taken from the pedestrian bridge over the Metra tracks in the Thaddeus S. “Ted” Lechowicz Forest Preserve.
The photo was taken with a Nikon Coolpix P7700 camera and did the editing with Luminar 2018. I used the RAW Develop filter to raise the contrast, shadows and clarity and lower the highlights and blacks. I used the Tone filter to lower the SmartTone and applied the Accent-AI and Orton Effect filters. Lastly I increased the warmth and increased the contrast even more in the highlights and midtones.

I’ve been impressed since seen the cover, then more enjoy when viewing the real picture.
Thanks, Albert. I’m glad you liked it.
You are most welcome, Gary
Absolutely love the look on this one Gary, wow!
Thanks, Carol. I was playing with it and not liking what was happening so I decided to try the Orton Effect and liked how it turned out.
Not familiar with the name but I will research it. It is stunning.
I have ACDSee Ultimate 2018, Affinity Photo and Luminar 2018 and all three have the option. I don’t know for sure but I would assume that Gimp also has it.
When I saw a photo by train, my first thought is For your beautiful pictures Gary.
Thank you. I’m glad you liked it.
