Dozens of embalmed bodies buried 2,500 years ago have been discovered

The embalmed bodies were found in excellent condition and were enclosed in wooden coffins.

The 59 embalmed bodies were discovered during excavations at Saqqara Cemetery, south of Cairo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Three weeks ago, 13 coffins were found, after which more embalmed bodies were discovered at a depth of 40 feet from wells in the adjoining areas.

Discovered embalmed bodies were buried about 2,500 years ago and date back to the sixth or seventh century BC in ancient Egypt.

All of these coffins will be moved to the Grand Museum of Egypt, which will soon be open to the public.

Due to Corona, the opening date of the museum has been extended and now it is likely to open in 2021.

Egypt Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khalid al-Anani says the 4700-year-old Haram Jozar may have more coffins in the area
