This is a photo of a flowering cactus also known as Cactaceae and in the family group of cacti known as Caryophyllales. This photo was taken late afternoon, late Winter. The cactus, as you can see, is budding early because of the generally warm Winter that South Africa has been having.

When I was young, I was very fond of cactus, but then shifted when I preferred bonsai which was more challenging. Your photos are very interesting!
