How to Maintain Your Home Clean on a Busy Schedule?

For a lot of people, the question of home maintenance is something that causes a ton of a headache. It’s not that any of it is particularly hard or inconvenient, it’s just that you need to maintain your home clean when you’re already busy and tired. However, do things really have to go this way? Of course not! There are so many things that you can do in order to maintain your home clean even on the busiest of schedules and even get the privilege of not seeing this as a chore, anymore. All in all, here are a couple of tips that could definitely come in handy.

Make your bed

In his book Make Your Bed (named after one of his iconic speeches from 2014), Admiral William H. McRaven, stated that if you want to change the world, you need to start doing so by (obviously) making your bed. This programs your mind in a way that it feels natural handling chores from the minute you wake up, which, in the long run, helps you beat procrastination. Second, it only takes a couple of minutes. Finally, even if everything else during your day goes wrong, late at night when you come home, you get to see a positive result of something you’ve done early in the morning.

Clean up after every meal

How many dishes do you need in order to make and consume a single meal? One plate, a couple of utensils and a dish or two (provided) that you have to cook/prepare it first? So, how long does it take for you to clean all of this up after you’re done eating? Well, not a lot of time, provided that you do it right away. This way, this becomes a part of your routine and not home maintenance. As such, it only takes several minutes every day and avoids scenarios where you have a ton of dishes to wash.

Hire some help

With some people, the problem with keeping their home clean is not in the lack of discipline or care, it’s just the fact that they actually don’t have the time or energy to fully commit to it. Sure, washing dishes and making your bed isn’t that hard but dusting, vacuuming, cleaning your oven and fridge interior, as well as deep cleaning your home, takes a lot of work and effort. A simple solution would be to outsource this task to an agency like Simply Spotless Cleaning, which gives this job to a skilled and reliable (even police checked, vetted and insured) professional.

Daily laundry

Seeing as how you’re not doing your laundry by hand and it only takes you a couple of minutes to set your washing machine, there’s no reason whatsoever why you shouldn’t do it on a daily basis. All you have to do is pop a load into the machine before you go to work and put it in a dryer when you get home. This way, you avoid creating clutter around your home and will never, ever have to worry again about not having anything clean to wear.

Buy a floor mat

The very last thing you need to consider is the fact that buying a floor mat is a simple way to keep your floors clean and tidy. Sure, you might already have a no-shoes-in-the-house policy, however, by just entering the hallway, your visitors will already bring some of the dirt from the outside. Later on, this dirt gets spread around the place helped by foot traffic (on socks or slippers) around the place. All of this can be prevented by buying a welcome mat at your front doors.

In conclusion

If there’s one thing to deduce from all of this, it’s the fact that you get to choose whether to spend a couple of minutes every day on your home maintenance or do you have to single out an entire day once per week or a month. Also, hiring some professional help is cheaper, simpler and more convenient than you may think and it resolves all of these issues without you even having to lift a finger. Whichever method you choose here; you just can’t go wrong.

  1. The best way is to have a personal cleaner. But I would never use a cleaning company, I do not like different people walking my home each time. I would pay one person who would agree to look for my home cleanness.
