It was
once
a fortress
Lincoln logs for adults
built to withstand the hurricane winds
that never approached.
Seems different now
with the hurricane winds
never that far inland
yet
memory serves up images
of that which was, once.
Peel the years
from the eyes
peel the years from the memories
what was
is again.
Do you see it
can you feel the changing ground around you?
See the images of what once was
there
the Lincoln logs rising
from the ground
creating a barrier to time.
Do not pass
The guard shouts
and time
as it does
ignores that threat
passing ever past the wall
until it is no more.
