Carol DM posted a spider sac and asked you what you thought it was, which at the time brought this spider to mind. I went outside and looked for some, there were none. I knew they would be showing up soon, as we see a lot of these spiders in our area of Southern California in the springtime.
Up until a few years ago we only had the black kind of this spider, now we have three kinds of this spider here. The white kind is killing or running out the black kind, so for the last few years I have seen no blacks, just the tans and whites. The egg sacs look the same in all three colors of this spider.
Can you guess what kind it is? I used RAID on them after I took the picture.
Hint: It is the only kind with spikes like the coronavirus..
I wrote that the egg sacs look the same in the white, tan and black, but the black does not have spikes.
