A few days after Czar Charles’ death there was a kind of blase’ attitude in the office. There was a need to appoint a new Manager.
There was some talk about a ‘new’ face, about ‘reorganisation’, but it was decided to replace Jeffery Charles with Connie, who had been there the longest.
As soon as she took over, the office moved back to where it had been before he came. People arrived early, left late, did more than their work, took a real interest in their jobs.
No one spoke of him, about him, it was as if he hadn’t existed.
