STUCK IN THE MIDDLE WITH YOU

“Stuck In The Middle With You” was the title of a song, made famous by: Stealers Wheel – back in 1972 when Napoleon was still a corporal.

The part about Napoleon was not true of course, however, If one considers how we ordinary people, tend to bicker and fight in life and how we are so easily angered at the slightest notion of having to consider backing down from a power struggle.

Yet, listening to these extraordinary girls say the most marvelous things about each other, in spite of having to wholly consider the other person 100% of every moment of each day and night, permanently, man, I was simply compelled to share their unique story with all the readers of my content.

Abigail and Brittany Hensel, are the only known, living dicephalus con-joined twins. “Conjoined twin is a rare phenomenon, occurring 1 in 50,000 to 100,000 (1).

However since 60% are stillborn or die shortly after, the true incidence is around 1 in 200,000 live births. A rarer form of conjoined twinning is the dicephalic parapagus twins which fused side-by-side with a shared pelvis (2).”

Abby and Brittany live on a farm in Minnesota with their mom and dad, Patty and Mike and two younger siblings, a daughter Morgan and a son, Coty. Their town is a small, close-knit community, far away from prying eyes.

They are soon turning 16 and they have decided to show the world how it is, to be stuck in one body for the rest of their lives.

They are not early risers since, they really battle getting to sleep at night, tossing and turning for hours most days. Even though they seem to be completely synchronized, they often disagree on many aspects.
