Shirley, alone in her work city, called Glen twice a day. Although he seemed alright and comfortable with their baby, she was not assuaged. She left her work city at the earliest moment, reached the flat she shared with Glen as if attempting a rescue.
As she entered there was Glen was holding Zac, watching television. Everything was perfect. She was unsettled, unsure, wondering if there was something hidden, but it was peaceful.
For the two days she was home with her husband and child it was perfect.
Zac slept through the night, Glen knew how to diaper and feed him, they seemed to have bonded.
When she went back to the city where she worked she felt almost confident. But not quite.
