Zac began crying about five minutes after Glen and Shirley went into the bedroom.
Shirley made no move to go to the baby. She pretended she didn’t hear.
After Glen had completed, she lay another minute, then went to the bathroom. When she came out, Glen was asleep.
Quietly, Shirley went to their son, Zac. She fed and changed him, held him a few moments, then put him back in is crib and went to lie beside her husband.
Glen slept for a long time.
Shirley had risen, cooked, eaten, fed Zach, sat with him on a chair watching T.V., fed him again, changed him again, and returned to the bed.
