Molly’s mother was a drunk, her younger sister needed constant supervision. Molly had spent her life trying to survive. Trying to survive and to take care of her sister, as if she had volunteered for the responsibility.
She had some how gotten through school, despite having a part time job and house duties.
She had somehow graduated, gotten a full time job, and almost, almost had a life.
Bert was a great guy, she was almost in love with him, but her crazy mother and clinging sister ‘needed’ her, so Bert was second tier.
When she turned around, he was gone.
She was twenty four.
this is a tough story overall both from the fact that it could be based on any number of people in real life, but also that the impact of parents can be so far beyond the ability of a child to cope.
There are kids who don’t run away and lose their existence.
there are, it is painful sometimes!
It is; because they lose their own existence. Those that choose their existence over responsibilities they never created are made to feel guilty.
it can be so hard, we are taught to chase our dreams but sometimes we forget to remember that dreams can be missing huge pieces.
One of the things with kids is that I never put outside or other’s responsibility on them. What they didn’t create is not their mess to clean up.
i do agree with that it is very important
