Police Shooting African Americans

Thursday, 6.1.20

After I posted a video to update the charges for the four officers who killed George Floyd, I noticed another video about two more African Americans who were killed by police and National Guard, but these two weren’t reported.

#1 The Protests Made a Huge Difference: All Four Minneapolis Cops Charged in Killing of George Floyd

Democracy Now’s Amy Goodman interviews people about the four officers murdering George Floyd.

The four officers charged for the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minnesota include Derek Chauvin, Thomas Lane, J. Alexander Kueng, and Tou Thao. Derek Chauvin was charged with 2nd degree murder, while the other three officers were charged with aiding and abetting murder.

#2 Breonna Taylor and David McAtee, more African American shot and killed.

Another African American who was murdered by police is 26-year-old Breonna Taylor. She was shot inside her own apartment by police. This happened in Louisville, Kentucky. The officers didn’t turn on their cameras. They were fired.

Police have always known of a 911 tape about the murder. But they ignored it. The police thought she was associated with a drug deal, hiding drugs inside her apartment.

Moreover, on Monday, June 1st, National Guard had fired shots at the crowd protesting, killing David McAtee, an African American restaurant owner who gave police officers free meals. They weren’t wearing body cameras.

But these murders aren’t being exposed.
