At the appointed time, Penny arrived, resplendent in her gown, and had a perfectly meaningless joke of a wedding ceremony on that silly little island her friend had told her about.
Walking from the hotel premises, into a kind of bridge/tunnel, arriving at this ‘island’ where there stood Jake and all the guests, while a cheap recording of ‘Here Comes the Bridge’ squawked in the background, put a smile on her face.
She had to do all she could not to explode laughing.
As she stood at the ‘altar’ she could hear the people on the beach; some were playing football; “Go Wide Tommy!”
Some parents were having difficulty with their children; “Kitty! Come back here!”
She could hear people living their real lives while she had her entry into insanity during the few minutes of the ‘I Do’ ceremony.
Then, she tossed the bouquet and led the group to the reception area.
