Mansa Musa’s reign over the Mali Empire wasn’t secret, he was not unknown. He made a famous journey to Mecca, passing through various North African Kingdoms, giving out gold to the extent the price dropped.
His journey continued through the Middle East to what today is Saudi Arabia.
But History seems to have, until recently, ‘redacted’ Mansa Musa.
As amazing as his wealth might be, what is rather captivating, is how he gained the throne of the Mali Empire.
His predecessor, Abu Bakr, appointed him regent when he departed on a voyage to the ‘New World.’
Abu Bakr, with thousands of ships departed on a journey to the New World in the 1300s.
This is not hidden, Mansa Musa himself wrote of it.
