Living on the Holodeck – 3

For Centuries, Europeans have come to islands their fore-parents colonised,

They arrive to get away from who they are, what they are;  in short, they take a break from real life, just as they would on a Holodeck.

And when they are finished it is very much; “Computer, End Program”, as they depart.

Unlike a Holodeck program where all the characters and scenarios disappear into a computer,  on an island in the Caribbean, life actually still goes on.

People continue to exist even though the tourist is not there.

This is not comprehended by the Tourists who arrive with their attitudes and ideas, demands and desires.

For them, the locals are no more than holograms.
