Tom had a pickup truck and a motorcycle. Verna didn’t like his motorcycle anymore than his pick up truck.
He parked the truck on the road, letting her have the garage save the little corner he had for his motorcycle.
On the Saturday after the ‘stinking fish’ announcement, Tom went to a certain spot and began to build his Shack. He worked from sun up to sun down.
He worked alone, without haste.
When he got home Verna asked him where he’d been and he said he was doing some work.
She had prepared ‘dinner’, pre-packed meals.
