Tom got through the years by going fishing whenever he could, by pretending to watch sports when he was home.
He went to work every day, leaving extra early, arriving early and spending at least a half hour relaxing.
He’d work, complete at six, have a meal, taking his time coming home.
As he always came home around eight she never questioned.
Verna wanted them to go out with him once a week. He didn’t argue. It was always her choice of where they went, what they did.
When the boys were young, Tom and Verna would take them out on Saturday to this venue or that.
Many times Tom was ‘tired’ so Verna would take them herself.
When they boys got older they didn’t want to go with their parents but their friends, it was fine with Tom.
