Teddie asked me; “You can get home alright?” and I made this brave nod and smile.
Sure, I had expected him to drop me, but with Keline gripping his arm, and the big plans, I let them go.
I could imagine asking him for a lift and Keline making a sick face and insuring that the drive would be uncomfortable.
So I nodded, saw them off, and went out.
The bus took forever to arrive, was jammed, and I stood all the way. I got off at my stop, and as it was late, caught a taxi for the rest of my journey.
When I finally got in I was so drained I just lay on the couch.
