It was a week later, Carlos moved out. He said it was temporary, he needed to get his head around her life.
Evangeline pretended she believed him. But she knew he wanted a wife who put him first. A wife who would have babies. And stay home and mind the babies.
So temporary became permanent and the divorce was filed and completed, and she was unmarried.
The few days she was home, she was home alone. So most days she wasn’t home.
In a way it was easier to camp out and catch a few hours here and there, when deployed.
Being unmarried meant she had no one to check in with, so if she did a thirty hour stint, no one would miss her.
