Always seems so exciting. One always wants to be that hero.
Few reflect the cost.
The cost on every aspect of what civilians call ‘life’.
She wasn’t going to drink any more wine, or smoke another cigarette, she was going to get into bed and try to sleep.
She tried to recall those ancient days when she would lie down and sleep through the night.
Not lie for an hour, fall into sleep for two or three hours, wake, try to get back to sleep, and finally get another hour or so, then, lie there.
Just lie there until she couldn’t lie there any more.
