Cutting the Cords – Amanda – 4

With Amanda gone, Mac enjoyed his job, his friends.

He began going out every night.  He set his own curfew, and when it came to weekends, he could do what he pleased.

It was like being young again, and he relished every second.

Mac’s very first Amanda-less Sunday, he’d  gone on a fishing, stayed in a cabin.   When Amanda rang him, he didn’t betray where he was.  She must have thought he was sitting at home on the sofa.

When she hung up he exhaled, feeling free.

He could do what he wanted, when he wanted, how he wanted.

Mac recalled a month ago,  which seemed a different life.  He recalled Amanda’s rules and orders, and he obeying like a puppet.

Now?

He had no one to obey.  He could eat when he wanted, what he wanted, wear what he wanted, leave the cap off the toothpaste, not flush the toilet until necessary, and didn’t have to shut this light or leave this one on.
