After the first ‘sermon’ Kaps gave, Eric stopped attending service. He knew Kaps was a fraud. Knowing his half brother supported Kaps had been the first clue.
The friends of Alvin attended and reported to him. This convinced Eric that ‘Kaps’ was playing the congregation.
As the congregation paid Kaps a large salary, many members ceased to pay dues. And even more ceased to attend service.
Persons who rarely missed service were now monthly visitors. Some stopped attending completely.
As time passed, as more people complained about Kaps, Steven stopped defending him.
