Barry's Diaries – 78

That evening the family  went out as had become usual for them.

Never before had the family been such a unit.  His father spoke of it, noting the change in Barry, as did his mother, claiming it was the change of environment.

Barry agreed saying how much younger his parents seemed; it was a sentence he’d rehearsed.

Very little of what Barry said was spontaneous, he’d thought about conversations, what he would say, how he would say it.

It wasn’t that he was being phony, he was being the real Cool Barry who thought before he spoke.
